“Passionate about wine,

I saw as obvious the creation of a wine estate in Normandy, in the region where I was born. Daughter of fish farmers near Avranches, I worked in finance in Paris and London before training in viticulture in Alsace. My experience at Domaine Zind-Humbrecht, a figure of the Alsatian vineyard and biodynamics, anchored my desire to embark on the adventure.

Based in Quettreville-sur-Sienne, I am currently preparing the planting of vines on two hectares, chosen for the richness and complexity of their soil. The wines will be able to be tasted by 2027.

As Norman know-how takes an important place in my heart and mind, I wanted to develop a parallel production of natural and organic ciders. See you in spring 2023 to discover them!

In these two activities, I am resolutely committed to an approach of respect for nature, but also for the men and women who will taste its fruits.

Verbatim of Axelle

I am Axelle PIEDNOEL and I created EARL Domaine Leprince in 2021 in order to plant, in April 2022, 1.4 hectares of vines in Bourg-Achard in Eure, on family land passed down over several generations and which features a Virgin Mary giving her name to this charming little hamlet in the Normandy countryside.
It is a sloping plot, facing due south, whose soil (sandy-loamy and clayey) allows both good surface drainage and a sufficient supply of water, enhanced by the presence of flint which can bring minerality to the wine.
This project, resulting from a professional reconversion, is part of an in-depth reflection and an approach of innovation, sharing, while being respectful of nature and biodiversity since the vines are cultivated organically.
I actually followed a 2-year training course (BTS Viticulture-Oenology) before settling down, and I plan to develop agroecological practices but also additional projects such as beekeeping, wine tourism, visits, events…

“Wine lover,

I realized while traveling through Normandy that the wine history there was very rich. Although it was replaced by other crops from the 19th century, it enjoyed its hours of glory, both on the hillsides of Pacy-sur-Eure, Amfreville sur Iton and Gaillon. Many streets and localities bear witness to this: chemin des vignes, rue des bourbes, rue du pied des vignes…

Originally from Angevin, I was of course very influenced by viticulture, but from there to exporting it to Normandy, there was a big step… but I am getting ready to do it.

After more than 20 years as a project manager in the industry, I decided to embark on a BTSA in viticulture and oenology, which I hope to obtain within the year. I was able to discover a new technical environment, and also the joys and harshness of the winegrower's profession, particularly within an immersion at the Loic Mahé estate, in the heart of the magnificent Savennières appellation (Val de Loire)

The growth of viticulture in Normandy is an opportunity to bring together the different stakeholders within a sustainable project for the environment, with the objective of excellence, and of course to come together to share good moments of discussion and tasting!

The choice of grape varieties (called hybrids) is decisive in order to adapt to the local climate, they are in fact naturally resistant to cryptogamic diseases linked to humidity such as downy mildew or powdery mildew, and therefore suitable for sustainable and respectful viticulture. of nature by reducing phytopharmaceutical treatments.

These are Sauvignac, Muscaris, Soreli and Fleurtai, grape varieties that are still little known to the general public but which will make it possible to produce aromatic white wines using qualitative processes, and will be sold in a cellar set up on site. The first harvests are expected for 2024/2025. The estate will develop in 2023 with the planting of a new plot.

During my research in the field, I discovered some magnificent plots within the Seine-Eure basin where vines could flourish. I met the owner of one of them: he will become my partner in this installation project.
The objective is to plant 2 hectares of Chenin (ah, Anjou!) and Pinot Meunier in the town of St Pierre du Vauvray, near Louviers, from spring 2023. But the adventure will not stop there : we wish to continue planting Pinot Gris, Pineau d'Aunis and a hybrid on 5 hectares by 2025, with the development of a wine cellar. First bottles in 2026!

This project would be nothing without a human dimension. The association of vignerons de Normandie is therefore essential so as not to be alone with your vines and your project. It gives rise to meetings, friendships, and I also hope for a new page in Norman history: the renewal of its vineyards.
